I don't know why but suddenly the whole thing started working. Now I only need 
to find out why it didn't work for so many hours and suddenly it did.
The only thing I did do this time is configure everything via iwconfig instead 
of the graphical tools like system-config-network or kwifimanager.

finally the command : iwconfig ath0 mode managed essid XXXXX
made things work
