Then I'm probably smoking something... But I swear I got Dag's mplayer 
(rebuild of Matthias' spec), which indicates libviaxvmc support is included, 
installed on a CentOS 4 box without any xorg updates. I'll have to 
double-check that...

Yeah, that's it. mplayer has a dep on libXvMCW.so.1, which that package 
provides. Ah, but closer inspection shows its simply building against 
libXvMCW, the unichrome patch in the ATrpms build isn't included.
