That sounds like you're listening to the live analog sound rather than
myth's buffered sound. I guess you have a connection from audio out on
your tv card to line in on your sound card. You need to fire up
gnome-alsa-mixer (or similar), mute line in and set it to be the capture
source. This will allow mythtv to capture it along with the video
signal.
To test it without mythtv you should be able to fire up xawtv, mute it
and then run aplay /dev/dsp. See the mythtv troubleshooting doc for more
information.
FWIW mythtv 0.17 bit me like this too, but is now working fine (FC3,
Axel's rpms, terratec cinnergy 400). The only outstanding issue is how
to get the recorded programs from my computer to my TV - I'm not even
sure if it is possible to have a 20m s-video cable, but it certainly
isn't desirable!
