The suggestion over on the ivtv mailing list is to leave the machine powered
off for at least 30 seconds to a minute, to let the capacitors on your
PVR-x50 discharge, otherwise, Bad Things can carry over somehow.

Nah, sounds like the same thing a number of other FC1 users have seen. The
merged msp3400 works well on FC2 (2.6 kernels in general), but not so well in
FC1 (and 2.4 kernels in general).
