I assume the kernel-module-alsa is for the soundcard problem.
I'll give that a try.

My touchpad is an Alps device and is not even detected by the
2.6 kernel. cat of /proc/bus/input/devices only shows the keyboard.
However on Knopix with a 2.4 kernel it finds it (and it works)
however on Knoppix with a 2.6 kernel it doesn't even find it.
psmouse.proto=imps makes no difference. Any ideas on where to start
on this?
