I have sucessfully compiled latest xorg-x11 (the successor of XFree86 4.3.0/4.4.0) from SRPM from RawHide
(I have to upgarde also fontconfig)
version: 6.7.0-0.5
Fedora Core 1, KDE-Redhat
Uninstall all XFree rpms via 'rpm -e' (in initmode 3, i.e. withoud X)
Installed via RPM.
I had to add to apt.config RPM::Fake-Provide { "XFree86 4.4.0"; "XFree86-xfs 4.4.0"; "XFree86-truetype-fonts 4.4.0"} to get 'apt-get -f install' to work again.
It provides better bugfixed Radeon 7500 drivers. Blender started rendering without crashing and can play Unreal Tournamet 2004 :-) I'm testing it two days and everything seems to work
I guess It could be usefull to provide this to all KDE-redhat and ATRpms users. At least for testing..
With KDE I have noticed only one glitch - setting keyboard options!
I can't select keyboard layout !
The selection dialog in 'kcontrol' is entirely empty! It looks like some path under /usr/X11 or /etc/X11 was changed and KDE isn't now capable to see avaiable keyboard layouts. Also 'Xkb Options' are empty and all widgets are disabled in 'Switching Options'.
I had to set layout to "cz" directly in XF86Config. (it works as expected)
Can someone with deeper KDE knowledge help!?
Thanks'
