I do not know. I use mplayer to watch TV, and I think it has to be
recompiled in a computer with a capture card installed. I also activate the
radio interface and enable the use of xmms plugins.
I remove the duplicate desktop entry, copy codecs.conf to
/etc/sysconfig/mplayer and my default video output is xv. But these are
my personal preferences, nothing really important.

Yes, with had some fun with it...
By the way. I have a bunch of old rpms in my Atrpms area and the fun is to
make really old code to compile again in the latest fedora environment.
However, some of them may interest you:
mpg123 -> it is been maintained again and the version from dries only
produced noise last time I tried it. I had to change a bit the spec file to
make it play good sound again.
LiVes (lives) -> a video editing tool, not as good as cinelerra, but it is
evolving and no one is offering it for fedora.
xzgv -> this is an old image viewer, but maybe my favorite. A few days ago I
found some Suze patches that allow us to compiled it for fedora 6. The only
thing is that we should use gcc34 or gcc32. Otherwise the thumbnails get
messed up when scrolling.
povray -> the most famous raytracer available, but no fedora rpm.
xv -> I still use it a lot. I do not know why people forgot it. Well, maybe
there are better tools available today, but it is so easy to use ...
acidrip -> a small perl encoder (vob -> avi) that uses mencoder. Does not
compare to dvdrip, but is much simpler to use.
