Well, I agree with you.
The problem is that the new xorg is too sensitive to modifications.
I tried to copy parts of my FC5 xorg.conf (mostly mouse related) and X just
freezes.... (I have to reboot).
The new Ubuntu is also using xorg 7.1 But they have a utility
that just recreates xorg.conf the way we are used to. Maybe FC6
has something similar. I did not try Xconfigurator yet.
I am using a nvidia 5700. It worked just fine. If I go to gnome menu
and change some options, such as resolution, xorg.conf becomes
more familiar. However, I will try to fix other stuff before tyring to
recreated xorg.conf. But if someone finds out something, please just post
here.
The other thing I realized is that acroread is broken in FC6. The
initialization
script enters an infinite loop (bash version?). Also, cdrecord -scanbus
returns nothing, unless I pass the identification of a valid device for it.
Weird ....
I have a capture card and a camera. In FC5 just fine. In FC6, every time I
boot
the capture card gets video0 or video1 in a random way. Worst of all is that
it keeps vbi0 and radio0. I tried to put video_nr=0 and vbi_nr=0 in
modprobe.cong. Lets see if it works.
Qjackctl only starts jackd if I include myself in a group in
/etc/security/limits.conf, to increase my priority.
I have just installed mythtv, but did not test it yet. I have to reboot in
FC5 and
copy the database.
Well, the rest of FC6 is apparently the same as FC5. I created an mplayer
without the new version of x264. xine and vlc seems to be working.
The good part. Wel, it seems to boot faster and X enters also faster.
As always, FC6 seems to be a system poorly tested in a real environment.
