The first lines of the yum output contain the information about which
plugins are being loaded. E.g. you should see something like

# yum update
Loading "kmdl" plugin
Loading "installonlyn" plugin
Setting up Update Process
[...]

If not, then the kmdl plugin that coinstalls kmdls for new kernels
isn't there or isn't activated.
