You need modutils/module-init-tools that prefer /updates/ to
/kernel/. Check with

modprobe -vn ...

what your system would load. rpms for patched
modutils/module-init-tools can be found at ATrpms.

The 2.8.x line has been deprecated by the lm_sensors team, so I
wouldn't want to resurrect this. I'd rather help you find the cause of
the failing module loads. It may also be helpful to ask on the
lm_sensors list.
