mythmkmovie will get online again, it was taken offline while the 7.3
mythtv rpms were preped.
mythdvd requires transcode & mplayer.
transcode requires parts of mplayer
mplayer requires g++ >= 3
So, I either have to maintain two separate versions of mplayer (which
due to the security issues with older mplayers I'd rather not), or
start packaging gcc 3.x.x for rh7.3, which is also not very appealing
:(
If you have any suggestion, or want to dig into this yourself, you are
very welcome, of course!
But it becomes more and more cumbersome to support old distributions,
when some tools require newer gcc, newer qt, desktop utils and so
on. Every mythtv release has to be patched to get basic stuff running
again, and every time there are new obstructions. There were also some
issues with building natice lirc into mythtv for RH7.3 (can't remember
what it was), so the packages themselves start having less
functionality.

No, a large portion of mythtv users (North American users) don't need
xmltv and the miriads or dependencies, so I removed that mandatory
dependency from mythtv-backend. I moved it over to mythtv-suite,
e.g. if you want everything mythtv related you get it from
mythtv-suite (but not for RH7.3 were vital components are still
missing).
