thanks for the feedback on- and off-list.
I started switching the scheme - builds for fc1 are now
kernel-module-foo, for the older releases the builds are still in
progress.
There are compatibility provides that will still make apt-get install
foo-kmdl-... work, e.g. Jarod's guide will remain functional.
It took me a while to get it right, and each rebuild takes an age and
a day. But now it looks correct and I uploaded the fc1 builds. I
tested apt-get, I hope yum copes with it as well.
Speaking of apt-get, Panu, could you extend the lua-kernel-and-
kernel-modules-upgrade script to also seek for foo-kmdl-.*
(independent of "smp" existence and position) and add these to the
candidate upgraders for kernel modules? Is that possible? If yes, many
thanks in advance and please post on atrpms-devel at atrpms.net for us to
pick it up and test it <8-)
For the ones not in context: Panu has a drop-in script extension for
apt, which makes kernel upgrades also upgrade kernel modules
transparently, and even warns if some kernel modules are missing for
the new kernel. There are also some other bonbons like automatic grub
editing and perhaps more that I don't remember. Users of fedora.us
will have seen it in action.
