Did you also upgrade apt to use rpm 4.3.1? There was an explicit
dependency missing in apt/synaptic on the rpm version (fixed in the
master, soon to be uploaded), so it was possible to have different
rpm accessed.
Could you compare the versions of rpm, apt of the two machines to find
what the difference is?
